“Talk to China” Live Stream Virtual Tour in Giethoorn

On 9th June 2020, the first episode of ‘Talk to China’ live stream (LS) virtual tour in the Netherlands was hosted by Giethoorn Hospitality Agri & Tourism on Weibo (The biggest social media platform in China with more than 1 billion traffic per day). This live stream virtual tour was supported by NBTC Holland Markering China and Weibo.

In about 1,5 hours, the three must-do in Giethoorn with diverse and interesting experiences were revealed to the more than 18.000 audiences, and ranked as top 2 at the same livestreaming time period.

We will keep you closely updated about the traveling possibilty and measures to the Netherlands during the COVID-19 epidemic, and we look forward to welcome guests from China to visit and have fun with us in the near future.

Hospitality in Quarantine in China

This blog is written when the world is still fighting with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gaby came back to China in September 2020, 9 months after her last visit in January. The trip this time is a little bit different than usual, due to the impact of Covid-19 Gaby had to spend the first 14 days in China in quarantine. She wrote this blog during that period, from the 22nd of September to the 5th of October. There were some ups and downs in the meantime, but she is still happy thanks to the hospitality of everyone here. Therefore, she would like to share with you her quarantine journey. Hopefully you will enjoy reading it.

Food Waste Reduction

Food waste is a mass issue of the world. Even President Xi Jinping had to call the amount of food waste in China is “shocking and distressing”. The President has announced a campaign to deal with this problem since August, 11th 2020.
7505 kilometers away from China is the Nethelands, the country that is also facing the same problem. According to a research of Voedingscentrum.nl, in 2019 the Dutch households wasted around 34.4 kg of solid food per person per year.
Both countries are trying their best to tackle this problem. The Shanghai Xinmin Evening News has had an interview with three Dutch entrepreneurs about their view on this issue, as well as their ways on how to control it. One of the entrepreneurs is Gaby. Rural Revitalization forum in Shanghai

On October 22, 2020, Gaby participated in the Xincang China 1955 College Forum about Rural Revitalization. She highlighted the sustainable tourism development of Giethoorn and the international service structure and training by Giethoorn Academy. The unique mix of Giethoorn elements created a glocal village, in the rural culture driven by people. The activities in Giethoorn are integrated in the landscape Gaby explained how we create awareness of the ways in which tourism can enhance the welfare of our locals and protect natural and cultural heritage. With focus on ecology and hospitality.

Drone Show in Dafeng Holland Park

To celebrate the National Festival in China, the Dafeng Holland Park in Jiangsu has made a spectacular drone show in the first of October. During the show, 300 drones lit up the night sky in the Holland Park. The show was recorded in the video below. We hope you will enjoy it.
